Today, we went to visit my mom in the hospital. Seeing my mom hurting was tough and opened the floodgates to childhood memories. How many times did my mom comfort me when I was hurt? How many words of love has she spoken to help heal my wounds?
Tonight, I was the one doing those things. I was the comforter. I was the one with words of healing and hope.
I had a wonderful childhood which I view as a blessing. I was blessed to grow up in a home with parents who loved God, loved each other, and loved their children. And my favorite childhood memories are the simple everyday memories.
Over the next few days, I will share some of the everyday memories from around our home. And I haven’t forgotten about my Baby Boy’s birthday post. It will come at the end of the week when I have more computer time. But for now…
~ Mud~
Two years ago, we had to have some major plumbing work done on our home. The plumbers had to dig up our backyard from the house all the way to the back fence. Despite our efforts to fill in the hole (twice) with dirt, we always end up with this mud hole after a heavy rain or when mommy leaves the garden sprinkler on for too long. <ahem>
When we walk outside, it is as if a large, wet, messy magnet is in our backyard.
Then there is the clean up. That’s almost as fun as the mud.
Baby Boy must share with the flowers.
And that’s some of our simple everyday memories.
Love this! These are the best memories.:-) Brought a smile to my face, thanks for sharing. Hope you are doing well today, and I am glad to hear my post helped you some. We are still trying to get on our feet as well, but keeping the faith and praying a lot. I wish you all the best!

With grins like that I think I would just leave the mud hole :) Simple joys found around the house, some of my favorites!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat messy fun. You're not alone when it comes to leaving sprinklers on. It's been a while since I stopped by. I was looking at some old posts when I was linking up to my current post and I saw your comment on one of my P lesson posts. Thanks for stopping by to comment. I was reading some of your recent posts, and am really enjoying your blog. Your 2 year old is exactly 1 month younger than my Amelia.
ReplyDeleteBlessings.
Funny how the simple things, not the expensive vacations or fancy plans, make the best memories. Hope would LOVE to play at your house!
ReplyDeletePraying for your mom!
