Standing in the need of prayer ~

This is not the post that I intended to write tonight.  Sometimes, I feel God leading me another way with a post and today is one of those times.

This morning, I spent some time at the hospital.   A few weeks back, my Mom had a stress test that showed possible problems with her heart.  A  heart cath was scheduled for today to see if there was a problem and if there was it would be fixed immediately.  Shortly after the procedure began, we were called back and told that my Mom had no blockages and they could not find anything wrong with her heart!

I am so thankful that God heard our prayers and my Mom was given a good report.  Many have been praying for her over these days & weeks.

I believe in the power of prayer.  I know God is the God of miracles and healing.  I have many people in my life right now who are in need of healing.  I feel like I need to ask others to pray with me so I’m posting it here too.  Would you please pray with me for:

Tori ~ I told you about Tori a while back.  She is a seven year old with brain cancer.  She is the daughter of one of my best friends from high school and college.  Tori is about to start another round of treatments that are tough on her little body.  Please pray for her family too ~ Todd, Penny, and Hunter.

Cathy ~ a high school friend with cancer

Bro. Floyd & Bro. Chuck ~ Both the pastor and associate pastor of our church are suffering from health problems.

Vonnie ~ My cousin who is suffering some health problems.

I’m sure that there are some that I am forgetting.  Maybe you have some pray requests and concerns too.  If you would like, you can leave a comment and others & myself can pray with you.  Or if you’d like to keep it private, you can send an email to me.  Visit my profile page and there should be a link to email me.

Before I leave, let me leave you with a link to a beautiful song.  This song speaks so deeply to me because I’ve had those sleepless nights of crying out to God.  He answers my prayers…not always the way that I have anticipated…not always in a way that I can understand.  But He loves me…He loves me like no other.  He is so good to me.

Garden harvests and a recipe ~

~Before I post, I want to thank those of you who have been praying for Tori.  Some have asked me to give a little update on her.  First, she came through the surgery well.  She had some problems with headaches and double vision while recovering but she was able to move out of ICU quicker than expected.  From one of Penny’s updates, the tumor that the doctors removed was malignant.  On May 2, they will be doing a spinal tap and putting in a line so that Tori can receive the medications needed.  (Penny, if you read this and I’ve relayed any information incorrectly, please let me know.)  Please continue to pray for Tori, Penny, Todd, and Hunter.  Thank you. ~

Our little white house garden is starting to reward us with some yummy treats!  The kids are loving looking through the strawberry patch every day and finding sweet treats.

I’m loving the fresh salads at lunch and dinner everyday!  YUMMY!  Today before lunch I was surprised to find some snow peas that were ready to pick.  (I looked yesterday and didn’t see them…those sneaky little snow peas!)

I picked all that looked ready, hurried in to wash them, and promptly ate them for lunch.  (Well, I ate them after I took the picture.  My mouth was watering the whole entire time!)  They will be wonderful in tomorrow night’s stir fry too!

I try to avoid MSG because it does not agree with my stomach.  (MSG is just not good for youMore here.)  Since many salad dressings have MSG, I’ve been making salad dressing for our family.  Here’s a Ranch dressing recipe that we all LOVE.  I’ve had this recipe in my recipe binder for a while but don’t know where I found it.   If it looks familiar, please let me know so I can give credit.

Ranch Dressing

  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or plain yogurt (I used Greek yogurt)
  • 1/4 teaspoon parsley  (I was out of parsley so I used the garlic and herb seasoning pictured above)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic (I omitted because I used the garlic seasoning.)
  • 2 teaspoons seasoning salt
  • 1/2 – 1 teaspoon dill weed
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • sprinkle of chives

Mix all of the ingredients together and enjoy.  It tastes better after it has set for about 24 hours.  I don’t know how long it would last in the frig because our dressing didn’t even last a week with all of our fresh salads!

If you have a garden, have you been eating any of your harvests yet?  I’d love to hear about it!

A little blog business and a prayer request

~Blog business~

The other day my email showed that my blog had gotten a comment.  I read the comment through my email and thought, “Well, that was strange.”  So I came to the blog to check it out and it wasn’t showing up on my blog page!  How weird!

Then I realized that it may be in the spam section and “ta-da” there it was.  I visited the site and while it wasn’t offensive, it was trying to sell something as was the comment that was supposed to appear on my blog.

Last night, I received another strange comment and this one did appear on my blog.  (And I’m sorry if you are the one sending these comments.  I don’t mean to offend you but I had to delete your comments.)  So I have had to go back to moderating comments.  Neither of these comments were really bad, strange maybe, but not offensive.  I just don’t want one that is offensive to slip through when I am away from the computer.  So if you leave a comment, it will not immediately show up but I will approve it as soon as possible.

~A prayer request~

One of my dearest friends from high school found out on Tuesday that her seven-year-old daughter has a brain tumor.  As I type this, Tori should be in surgery having the tumor removed.  The tumor is actually in the center of her brain on her brain stem.  It will be sent for a biopsy and the parents will know some time next week if it is malignant or not.  I am asking my friends and family if they will please pray for Tori.  Pray for the surgeons as they operate.  And please pray for Todd & Penny and her big brother, Hunter.  God is a God of wonders and miracles.  I believe that they still can happen.

I hope that you have a great weekend.  Our family has a few little adventures planned and hopefully I’ll be able to share those on Monday.
