Losing Adriane ~ Week 2

DSCN4049

Even though I did not meet all of my goals this week, I feel like I have made some progress towards my weight loss.  I did accomplish a little bit of something on all of my goals.  Right now I am chuckling to myself because I can hear my dad tell me, “Almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades”.  Despite the fact that I did not complete my goals, I did do a little bit towards them.  I almost met my goals.  :)

So this week I’m going to focus on these goals again:

  • Journal my food intake everyday.
  • Maintain 1200 – 1400 calories a day.
  • Drink only one Coke a day!  (had this one going and blew it on a stressful day!)
  • Exercise at least five days this week.  (Walking now and hopefully couch to 5k as soon as the ankle can handle it.)
  • Continue to eliminate white flour/refined carbohydrates from my diet and replace them with whole wheat/ whole grain carbs.
  • Drink at least 6 glasses of water a day.

And adding a new one to the list:

    • Go to bed by 10:00 – 10:30 PM

I’ve read numerous places  (click here for one article) that enough sleep is imperative to weight loss.  Not to mention…a non-grouchy mom!   The article above says that a body needs at least 7 hours of sleep a night to help with weight loss.  I’ve read some others that 7 and a half.  I can tell you that I do not get that much sleep every night.  So I’m challenging myself to get to bed earlier!

Hopefully, I’ll post next Monday and will have met at least one of these goals for the entire week

And before I go, my weight loss/ gain for this week is:

  • I did not gain or lose any weight this week.

Obviously, I’m not doing enough to shed this weight.  I will definitely have to step it up this week.

    And this should help:

I just drank the last Coca-Cola in the house.

Should be an interesting week this week!

    1. If it makes you feel any better, this has been my weight loss experience. I'm trying to lose my baby weight which is about 25 lbs. I would like to lose a little extra beyond that so it makes 30 lbs a grand total. I've been on my program for 8 weeks now and it is similar to yours in that I'm trying to keep to 1400-1500 cals a day, my problem is a glass of wine instead of a can of Coke, and I exercise intensely for 1 hour a day. anyway, with all the hard hard work I'm putting in, I DID NOT see any loss for three weeks!!! It was so frustrating but I kept on my program. Here I am starting week 9 and I'm finally seeing inches lost, pounds lost, I've dropped one pant size. So the moral of my comment is: just keep going even if you aren't seeing immediate results. It will eventually pay off. also, remember to drink water, water, water. So much of 5 lbs loss/gained is actually fluid retention. That's my 2cents!

    2. You can do it! I believe in you! I don't think i could ever get to bed that early! LOL But it sounds good. I too struggle with the sodas...grrr I quit then I stress and have to have one or I get grumpy :-) LOL Hang in there, change takes time. Just start small and work your way into it.
      Have a great day!
      Blessings,
      Jill

    3. Thanks, Shannan. I'm sure part of the problem is my age and genetics. (Though I've read where some say genetics are actually not part of the problem.) I don't exercise intensely but I am not a couch potato either. I am a busy homeschooling mom with an active toddler. I am on the go all day long but I do sabatoge myself with soda.

And I do need to drink more water. I am not a water drinker. But I do feel so much better when I drink it. Anyway, thank you for sharing your experience with me.

Thanks for the encouragement, Jill. I know I need to go to bed earlier but it is hard for me to stop at night because I finally have time to do my stuff or work on projects. But I need the sleep. And maybe I won't need the soda if I get to sleep earlier. We shall see since tomorrow morning will be sans any Coke of any kind! Yikes!

    4. If I don't get enough sleep I crave junk. I find the older I get the more sleep I need. But I think some of that is the weight making me so tired.

    5. Lecia, I could have written your comment above, word for word. That is exactly how I feel and how lack of sleep affects me.
