Last night, I had a few rare minutes to myself. The city chicks were running around the garden so I poured a glass of sweet tea and plopped myself down in the garden to enjoy the quiet.
My brain started to jump from task to task to task of the many things that needed to be done…chicken coop to paint, nesting boxes to build, homeschool shelves to organize…it got to be a bit overwhelming.
I could hear my Dad saying, “How do you eat an elephant, Adriane?”
To which I would answer, “Bite by bite.”
So I took a deep breath and realized that the only way to accomplish the many goals is to lay them out and tackle them one by one.
Then I remembered that I had read of 3in30. The point of 3in30 is to list three goals and work towards attaining them over the month. Since we focus on only three things, it’s not so overwhelming. And by linking up to the site, you have some accountability.
So I am kicking off July with some goals to accomplish this month. (I seriously love lists of goals!)
My 3in30 goals for July:
- In bed by 10:30 pm.
Somehow, I have become a night owl. However, I don’t get to sleep late. Plus I need to start waking even earlier. So now all computers, TV, and electronics will be off by 10 pm and lights off at 10:30 pm.
- Organize homeschool shelves, materials, and paper work.
We have declared July our “get ready to get back to school” month. The plan is to start school August 1. I have much to do to get ready for us to start on that day!
- Weight loss goal for the month ~ Kick the soda habit.
I wrote here about returning my focus on losing this weight. (There will be a kick off post later tonight too.) I decided to break some of the weight loss goals down into bite-sized pieces too. (which I’ll explain later) This month, it is good-bye to soda. This is the hardest one (for me) so I decided to start with it.
That’s my three goals for the month. If you would like to join too, visit here to learn more about it and link up!
Thanks for stopping by my blog! I got the Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30. I think you picked good tangible goals - good luck!
ReplyDeleteThank you Becca!
ReplyDelete3 is too much for me -- I know, I'm pathetic!! But rock it, sister! So proud of you for striving to kick the soda habit! You'll never want it again, once you get off it - it just burns and burns when you think a little sip won't hurt anything...ask me how I know. You will be so much the better for it, and as for your organization goal, I hope you share before/after pictures!
ReplyDeleteI agree...three is a lot! The number two goal of organizing the homeschool stuff is enough to take up a few months! That's why the other two are goals that don't require me to work but just to have will power.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement. Those sodas are so addictive and hard to kick. But I know when I do, I will be so glad that I did it.
