I thought that it might be fun to share our weekly schooling. I know that I love to see what others are doing in their home schools.
The Princess is in first grade and learning how to read. She is so proud that she can read these little books. She has also memorized the poems, “Caterpillar” and “The Elephant” this week.
Hot Rod is in the fourth grade. He is working on math here. We love this computerized math program called Teaching Textbooks. It’s the one thing he really loves about school!
Sunshine Girl worked on the letter B this week. She is busy counting bears and making patterns here. Earlier, she had painted a Bb blue. We read Blueberries For Sal by Robert McCloskey. Of course, we had to eat blueberries while we were reading it!
Since we had the paint out, Sunshine Girl also painted this picture. We will add all of the B pictures and paintings to her Bb lapbook and place it in her ABC book.
Hunter is in the sixth grade. Here he is reading his reading book. He is really loving reading which is one of my favorite things to do too. His favorite story this week was The Renegade Husky.
We were not able to do two of our projects due to the cloudy/rainy weather on Friday. In science, we are studying the sun and since it was not sunny, we were unable to melt candy bars using magnifying glasses. (However, we did not let that stop us from eating the candy bars!) Also, the boys are in Boy Scouts and were going to participate in a 9/11 memorial service but it was rained out. We had a good week with the exception of a few bad attitudes here and there. I am so thankful to be able to teach my children. We all learn so much about educational matters and each other.
