Homeschooling: A lifestyle of learning ~

May 13, 2011 018

I was recently talking with a homeschool mom who was finishing her first year as a homeschooler.  We were talking about this and that when she found out that we had been homeschooling for six years.  Her response was, “WOW!”

Now I realize that six years is really not that long compared to many.  But honestly, it is longer than I thought that I would ever be homeschooling.  (I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before.  But I’m one of the ones who said that I would never homeschool!  {wink}) This new-to-homeschooling mom started picking my brain for information about curriculum and how we do certain things in our homeschool.

That’s when I realized that I needed to write these things down.  For one thing, I have not discussed very much on this blog or in real life the reasons why we homeschool.  Also, I have found over these six years some methods and curriculum that really work for our family that I would also like to share.

For the next few weeks, the plan is to share a little bit about our reasons for homeschooling, our homeschool style, some curriculum & methods that work for our family, and our homeschool curriculum for the upcoming school year.  My plan is to post at least one post a week but I am a busy homeschooling mom and sometimes the best laid plans get pushed aside for the needs of our home.

I hope you will join my family and me as we talk about our lifestyle of learning!
