It’s the last day of February and that means it’s time for a garden update.
So what’s happening in the Little White House garden at the end of February?
Let’s see…
Signs of spring approaching as grape leaves start to unfurl.
One of the few surviving strawberries is blooming. Twenty new strawberries are now planted amongst the beans, lettuce, and spinach as we give this companion planting a try.
Mustard greens, baby lettuces, snow peas, little bitty swiss chards, and one lone tiny broccoli plant (and a garden helping Flower Girl too)
Go snow peas, grow! We can’t wait to pluck you off and eat you fresh from the vine!
One of the newest garden additions: the peach tree is sprouting leaves! Yay!
Still working to clean out boxes and add new mushroom compost to them! Slow and steady wins the race. But, wow, is it hard work. (And good exercise)
The City Chicks are loving the spring too. We are getting about four eggs a day again!
The garden in February is still pretty quiet and plain. However, next month, I imagine this update will be totally different as spring comes to the deep south!
How is your garden growing right now?
